What is Koinonia?
Koinonia is Messiah’s small group ministry on campus. We provide leadership, structure, accountability, and inter-generational contact in order to equip students to create and run their own small group Bible studies.
-a place to meet like-minded Christ-followers and go deeper
-a safe setting to bring your questions about life or God or the Bible
-a refuge from first year superficiality
-an easy way to plug in—just sign up and show up
-a more intimate surrounding where you can be transparent and vulnerable
In Greek, Koinonia is the intimate bond of fellowship which unites Christians. Therefore, on campus, the mission of Koinonia is to foster discipleship through small group leader training, group formation, and resourcing.
To participate int he kingdom of God on the Messiah College campus by nurturing authentic relationships that cultivate genuine life change in the image of Christ.
Why does Koinonia exist?
Because we cannot be a Christian alone. We believe that only through the vital connections that can occur in small groups will we discover and live out our God-given purpose so that we can glorify God by embodying His Kingdom on campus.
What’s the point of being associated with Koinonia?
We provide leaders with training, resource material and connections with Kore Team members. We also provide online information and support from the Mentor Leader Team. We, as a Kore Team, support and promote Koinonia through our weekly meetings, our friendships and our prayers.
Can I be with my friends in a small group?
Yes, absolutely. You can sign up to be in a specific group, form a group and find a leader, or form a group and have us assign a leader. You can also just request a friend to be with during registration.
Can I sign up if I don’t know anyone?
Yes, in fact many people do. We will place you in a group on campus according to your preferences during registration. Joining a group is a great way to form new friendships as well as accountability while growing in Christ. We can even find you a group to lead if you don’t have a group.
